Another weird day
Today, a man came in and asked for two coffees. It was the end of the pot so we didn't have enough for two cups. I told him it would take two minutes to brew a new pot if he want to wait. He told me he did NOT have time to for that. So I replied that we have enough for a half cup and we could do a half caf. He responded with that sounds terrible. So I told him I would refund the coffee so he didn't have to pay for a cup that he didn't drink. He said no he did NOT want a refund and stormed out of the building. Now how am supposed to provide good customer service when you wont let me??!!!!?!?
I was making whip cream today when a guy walked in. He saw that we make whipcream our selves and that we use the whip it chargers. He said "hey do you guys like do whip it's in the back?? " what??? No sir we don't usually get high at work. What?? Why would you ask someone that??? So weird....

my pet peve
My biggest pet peve from working in a coffee shop is the fact that people don't read the menu. I don't go to mccdonalds and order a whopper. So why do people come to Caribou and order a Frappacino or a Caramel Macciato? These are not things listed on the menu! This leads me to my second pet peve, the made up terms that starbucks uses. A frappacino is not a technical term. I believe that people think it is and that it why they come in and order them. I am not sure what a caramel macciato is but i know that it is not a traditional macciato. I think that what starbucks calls a macciato is a latte made upside down. But, my point is that we don't have one of those on the menu! If you would read the menu you wouldn't find one. Maybe, i am being inconciderate, maybe people can't read. Or maybe they forgot their glasses, who knows. If that is the case then i don't understand why they don't just ask!

my first blog
Well this is my first blog. I never really thought i would start one of these but i have always liked writing so i guess even though this was a requirement it is a good one. What i would like is to turn this blog into the crazy things i see or hear everyday. I have worked in three different coffee shops over 5 years and have witnessed some crazy. Now everyone that has worked in customer service knows what i am talking about. The people who think they know more about what you are selling then you do and the people who are just plain crazy. I will be sharing these stories as they happen and as i remember them.
First, those people who have no idea what they are ordering but they want to pretend they do. A lady walks up to the counter and ask "What sugar free flavors do you have?" I respond from memory as i am asked this question multiple times a day "raspberry, caramel, vanilla, hazelnut and chocolate." She responds "oh, so you don't have sugar free mocha?" I then inform her that chocolate and mocha are the same thing (something that i assume even a non coffee drinker would know). So i then procede to ask what size and if she would like white chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate. She then looks at me with an extremely puzzled face. "CHOCOLATE??? for what???'
